Part of building a company, which all entrepreneurs must at least partially learn, is to understand how customers and investors think. If you want to attract investors, you must have a realistic plan and be able to both describe and follow it. Although I have been a lawyer and entrepreneur for many years, I had a lot to learn from IRP. The methodology, pedagogy and the rigor that the program pursues, was a perfect preparation for my latest investment round. The Investment Readiness Process is the most widely spread standardised, preparation process for raising external venture capital in the Nordics. More than 200 startups and scaleups from Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland have been IRP Certified and the IRP is used and approved by almost all incubators and accelerators in the Nordics. The IRP is a copyright-protected method that has been developed by Beels Consulting AB based on theories and practice in combination with systematised and in-depth reflection regarding external funding processes and exit negotiations. The aim is to provide knowledge and methodology to founders intending to finance their company’s development through equity, loans or grants from external, financial investors.
